Philosophy encompasses a broad range of subjects and a wide variety of methodologies. In general, all philosophers pursue knowledge and truth about the world, the good life, human nature, and our relationships to others.

Philosophy Major

Many people believe that philosophy, as the pre-eminent liberal art, is worth studying for its own sake. You might study philosophy because it helps you understand yourself, and other people, as you prepare for your career and life in the world. You might choose to major in philosophy simply because you enjoy thinking philosophically. Whatever brings you to philosophy, our program allows you to pursue your academic interests — wherever they might lead.
