Campus Housing & Community Living

On-campus housing at SUNY Plattsburgh is a safe, secure, well-maintained environment where your social and academic needs are our #1 concern.

COVID-19 Housing Procedures

Fall 2020 Move-in Dates

Following guidance from N.Y. state, and in an effort to limit density within residence halls on move-in days, students will be welcomed into their on-campus rooms on the following:

  • New Domestic Students — August 18, 19, 20
  • Returning Domestic Students — August 21, 22, 23

Each student will be assigned a specific date and time frame, either noon – 3 p.m. or 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. for their arrival on campus. This information will be given to each student when they receive their room assignment in the first week of August. When making assignments, we will assure that roommates are not moving in at the same time, and that proper densities and social distancing are maintained in each building and on each floor. There will be a process communicated to each student at the time of notification on how to request a date and/or time frame switch, but we are not in a position to accept “reservations.” Student and families will receive more information soon containing specifics related to the move-in process.

International students should follow the guidance communicated by the Global Education Office.

Living the #Plattslife

We’ve invested a lot in the renovations of our halls with your success in mind. We have fun, learn and grow together, and develop a strong sense of community. Living on campus will support your success!

Higher GPA

The average GPA of students living on campus is higher than those living off campus.

Student Support in Residence Halls

Students are required to live on-campus for two academic years (four semesters). Nearly all first-year and sophomore, and many junior, senior and graduate-level students live on-campus.

Students who believe they have met this requirement or one of the college’s other exemptions may request to live off campus.
